Captain America: The First Avenger - WW2 and Tony's Dad?

(Also coming a bit after my rewatch, but blame school, not me.)
Despite being Team Iron Man, I do love and enjoy Captain America. Also, I'm a big history fan (thought I wanted to be an archaeologist or historian when younger), so a movie with superheroes and WW2 is definitely going to catch my attention. Now, I believe that, as with Thor, I saw this after Avengers, but since it takes place in the past, and we have that seen in Avengers that is also an end credit for Cap, with his reintegration, I believe that no harm was done.
Steve Rogers plays well as a princess story, and not in a bad way. The guy (in place of the girl) is faced with wrong, challenging their goodness, which is so clear to see, making us question why is so good a person in such a society. And, salvation! In the form of this super soldier serum. Now he's great and pretty (or handsome, I guess; is there a right term?),but now to prove they are still good! And he does so. And a misstep, kissing someone not Peggy! Okay, by this point, I have diverged, but you get the idea; Steve Rogers is a good fellow from the start, a contrast to Tony Stark's playboy, rich boy, smart mouth persona. While he has a small fall from grace, it isn't that bad; Peggy kisses him later, and cries for him (his literal fall into the icy waters was worse, though). And he "dies" for all of New York, though he actually just froze, now interacting with the son of the man who made his shield.
Peggy is a fine character as well, even getting her own show, which I watched a few episodes of. Just shows you how well established she was, a great change from Jane in Thor (I even liked Darcy over Jane!).
Bucky! Our future Winter Soldier. The friendship between Steve and Bucky is just so enviable; they get along so well, you wouldn't think that a few movies later you'd be seeing them fighting each other and almost dieing. And, while I'm on the point of Bucky, Stucky. Yes, that ship between Bucky and Steve. I hadn't noticed till the fandom art and vids crossed into what I watched, but watching Cap's movie and knowing of this ship, I can see it. A close friendship, Steve sidelining the two girls Bucky brings for them, kissing that girl through her instigation, not his, and kissing Peggy after Bucky died. I remember when I told my mom of the ship, sometime after Winter Soldier, she told me she thought the actors were together or something, so yeah, even my none shipping mom thought she saw something. It was nice to watch this movie through this ship I hadn't known of all those times I watched it before.
But also, Howard Stark. It was like time traveling, a bit of Doctor Who, us seeing Tony Stark's deceased father in his youth. Plus, his fail with the hovering car let him has his great save, which was just so Tony. He's like a classy Tony, in a way - though that might just be because of how he dresses. And how they teased the love triangle! How weird would it have been if Tony were Peggy's son, Steve Rogers having to work with the son of the girl he loved, whom she had with his "competition"! I still remember when he showed up on Agent Carter, and how I still wanted that tease! I mean, for all we know... But no! Anyway, I love this connection, especially because of how it increases that gut-punch feeling in Civil War, because not only did Steve Rogers hide the truth from Tony, but chose to favor his childhood friend over his newfound friend (Stucky!) which, while I guess many of us would side with Steve's decision (hence the large amount of Team Cap fans), there is still a sting of which friend came first.
Also, I just love how Twilight Zone-like it is when they wake Cap up. Yeah, I find it funny now, but had I'd been in Caps place, I would definitely be freaking out.
Now, of course the first Cap movie false short compared to the rest of the Cap trilogy; I mean, how can it compete with Winter Soldier and Civil War? Impossible, right? Still, it was a fine entry point (better than Thor and of course, way beyond Hulk's) and presents to us the powers of the tesseract, which we all know is key not only to Avengers but to Infinity War and Endgame.
Next up, Avengers!
