Guardians of the Galaxy - Who Are These Weirdos?

At this point in the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy seemed like an outlier; barely any interaction with Earth, the only connection to the Avengers they had was through Thor: The Dark World, and one is clearly a raccoon. How are these equal to the likes of Tony and Cap?
And, after having seen this movie more than one time, yes, it does have its own style, music a big factor. While comedy was present previously in the MCU, Guardians of the Galaxy is full-on comedy, the action coming second in what you remember from this film.
Peter Quill/Star Lord will quickly win you over - though that will all be lost when because of him the gauntlet isn't taken from Thanos and half of everyone is dusted. Chris Pratt basically summons Andy Dwyer from Parks & Recreation in his goofiness, giving him some cool gadgets and space as his playground. Basically, if you liked Parks & Rec, you'll definitely enjoy GotG.
Gamora is alright - basically, she takes on the now common role of tough-girl-going-solo-till-meeting-the-right-guy. Unlike Black Widow, she excludes others forcefully, and while this in part has to do with her history with Thanos - she is his daughter - they play a bit too long with this. Thankfully, she soon gets on our good side.
Drax may seem like the dry, muscled sort, but him only understanding the literal matches well with Star Lord's jokster ways. But he does mess things up on Knowhere, his anger making him unlikeable. Of course, this dumb-choice-out-of-anger is no where near as frustrating as Star Lord's in Infinity War.
Rocket and Groot go together, and well so. Rocket seems almost like the normal one out of them, an odd version Stark in that he helps the Guardians escape with what is in the prison, though their escape is no where near as impressive as Stark's. And Groot's repetitive "I am Groot" is charming rather than annoying, making "We are Groot" all the more touching.
Additionally, we are given the power stone, along with a so-so explanation of the infinity stones. Oh, and Thanos! So yeah, if only for this, Guardians of the Galaxy is a must in refreshing for Endgames. But, also, it's just a real fun ride!
